Move to "Patrick Barry (fighter)"?

[edit]

Someone raised the possibility of moving this page to "Patrick Barry (fighter)" taking into consideration Barry's involvement in MMA. I think I would agree, but figured I would ask if there is any opposition before moving the page. There are only 12 articles that link to here that which is no big deal to change them to the new page. --TreyGeek (talk) 18:00, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it IMO. --aktsu (t / c) 18:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Why, because he has had 4 fights in MMA?. What about his involvement in san shou, kickboxing and K-1, if anything it should be Patrick Barry (martial artist). I don't see a reason why it should be moved anyway coz that who he is a "kickboxer" the time his article was created.Marty Rockatansky (talk) 19:19, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Those also consist of "fighting". --aktsu (t / c) 19:26, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
When I saw User:David.snipes suggest the move, I looked over the page a couple times and did a quick Google search on Barry. It does seem like Barry is more than just a Kickboxer these days and thought the move would be appropriate. I do partially agree that (martial artist) would be even better, alas, it seems the naming convention is (fighter). --TreyGeek (talk) 23:53, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Who came up with this naming convention anyway, (fighter). it should be (mixed martial artist). sounds like more appropriate for the sport don't you think. man that was an unnecessary move. I don't agree with it at all, are you gonna move it back?Marty Rockatansky (talk) 09:58, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at [| Category:American_mixed_martial_artists] - There are a TON of people listed with the _fighters tag - I simply followed the protocol I saw.David.snipes (talk) 17:20, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
At least change it to (martial artist), for the respect of all different arts he's practiced throughout his career.Marty Rockatansky (talk) 19:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Seems like everyone here is in favor of it, so why not. (David.snipes at User talk:TreyGeek). --aktsu (t / c) 01:41, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First section, second paragraph: Sanshou career

In June 2003, Barry fought in the USASKF Art of War II Sanshou Professional Fights in Atlanta, GA. He won both a US National Sanshou Team Spot and a World Title by knocking out Paul Gurevidius. In November 2003, as a US National Team member Barry participated at the (Needs clarification. At the what?)[citation needed] "

Someone needs to find out what the user was referring to as they wrote about 2003. I don't want to erase anything if there was something notable but it was not added correctly.Tgox1 (talk) 22:42, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick?

[edit]

Why? I've followed his career since his 2nd UFC fight 3 years ago and never heard anyone refer to him as "Patrick". Why wouldn't he be under the name everyone uses, same as everyone else? Senor Vergara (talk) 22:14, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
